General Info:
The island of Lombok has a certain charm very different from other Indonesian islands and comprises of outstanding handicrafts and artists, visual as well as performing. The island’s untouched beauty and its colorful traditions such as hand woven natural materials, give it a special touch for any artist’s eye. Ismiadi, who is a contemporary expressionist painter and performing artist, is born in Lombok and works partly in Australia where he already had conducted several successful exhibitions. Ismiadi also worked as an artist in residence in Western Australia. Together with his partner Lucretia who is an anthropologist, he conducts these very innovative, active and interesting residence programs with maximal outcome for the participant.

Conditions
Durations of residencies:
The residencies can be conducted from 4 weeks to 3 months, depending on the artist’s requirements and outcome perspective. Residencies can be conducted at anytime of the year. The participating artist is responsible for his/her own materials, however we can assist with the best bargains for materials.
The cost for a one month residency is A$ 1800 and includes:
• 2 Large open studio spaces shared with one other artist if 2 artists are in residence. 24 hour studio access.
• Accommodation (private room with fan and desk, shared bathroom) at the Art Space location as well as
at our second studio space .
• 2 meals (breakfast, lunch)
• Transport to various arts locations on the island
• Tuitions and advice
• Help with community contacts
• One week Indonesian Language crash course if needed
• Seminars and guest speakers
• Phone to receive phone calls
On request we can include 5 days of arts activities in the most beautiful and spectacular area of Ekas Bay offering a package including all arts materials, spa and massage. Please ask us for a quote if you wish to include this outstanding experience in the nicest area in Lombok staying in a unique and secluded boutique sanctuary.
Applications
Your applications should be received 1 month before the start of your residency.
You can do so by e-mail. Please send us a concept of your residency (media, aims and goals) and at least 6 images of your work.
Selection is competitive based on merit of work and decided by the committee of directors.
We encourage that you apply for your own funding with potential sponsors.
How to reach the Art Space
We are only 5 minutes from Mataram airport. Mataram is the capital of Lombok and the art space is located near the city center although in a very green and peaceful suburb. You reach Lombok easily from Bali, either by plane (20 minutes flight) or by ferry (4 hours).
